SPARK-konferensen 2022 logga.

SPARK:s annual conference was held on 21 April at the School of Education and Communication with some 125 participants from business and academia.

The theme for the conference was Sustainable Industrial Development - Climate Transition.

Climate change is pushing industry transition at a fast pace. How can researchers and companies go hand in hand to make industrial development sustainable?

During the SPARK conference, valuable insights were gained on the subject from companies such as Combitech, Scania, Husqvarna and Falks Metall, as well as from researchers at the School of Engineering (JTH), Jönköping University.

ChromeSurf

The project has succeeded in developing alternative coatings that are similar to the chromium coating, chromium6, which is toxic to produce and handle and which will be banned from use from 2023. In a larger context, the project may have contributed to a completely new view of sustainability in terms of choice of material and a method to be able to assess customer experience of different materials.

Building Knowledge

The project has developed the RealEstateCore standard for smart buildings to optimize operations and is now used by the country's two largest real estate companies to offer modern, exciting services that their customers demand.

FunDisco

Several important sectors, such as energy, transport and components for the food industry, are dependent on surface treatments. FunDisco has increased our knowledge of the electroplating process for composites that can give surfaces on components new and better properties.

After the conference, the participants are invited to a post-conference mingle. Registration is required.

Location: Orangeriet, School of Education and Communication

SPARK is run by the School of Engineering (JTH) and is JU's research and educational environment within knowledge-intensive product realisation. SPARK will contribute to developing the region's and Sweden's manufacturing companies towards more knowledge-intensive products and processes.
