Meetings, impressions and future paths at Open House
“I was really impressed by the School of Engineering (JTH) at Jönköping University (JU) when I visited the Saco student fair in Stockholm with my high school class, and I have gained a very positive impression from my visit here.”
That is according to Meila Karlbom from Stockholm, who visited JTH during Open House on 14 March.
During this year’s Open House, many visitors came to Jönköping University to learn more about degree programs, student life, and future career opportunities. Many took the opportunity to speak directly with program coordinators and students, and several attended information sessions about the schools’ programs. At JTH, the information sessions attracted around 450 participants.
Meila Karlbom is interested in studying the Mechanical Engineering: Industrial and Production Management programme at JTH.
“The students seem very satisfied”
"I am drawn to design and have practically grown up in a workshop. The students I’ve spoken with seem very satisfied with their education, and Jönköping appears to be a cozy city with a great student life and one that’s easy to get around in. Plus, Jönköping was named Student City of the Year 2026," says Meila Karlbom.
Great opportunities
Selma Skoko from Värnamo has JTH’s Software Development and Mobile Platforms program on her top three list of programs she plans to apply to this fall.
"It seems like a broad program that offers great opportunities in the job market. I like that you get to work with IT, and it’s a plus that the program tops the list of JU programs offering the highest salaries. It also seems like there’s a great student life at JTH, and you can tell that the students enjoy being here," says Selma Skoko.

The JTH programme Computer Engineering: Software Engineering and Mobile Platforms is on Selma Skoko’s top‑three list of programmes she plans to apply for this autumn.
“Our programmes are exactly what’s needed”
Samer El Kari, Programme Manager for the Construction Engineering: Building Engineering/Civil Engineering progrmme at JTH at JTH, believes that Open House is an important opportunity to showcase the program.
“It’s a great way to showcase the university to potential students. JTH is one of the country’s three largest providers of engineering education, and our students are well-established in the job market. This shows that our programs are perfectly aligned with what companies are looking for. If you want a job with good career opportunities and strong salary growth, you should definitely choose the School of Engineering,” he says.
Close to the industry
Julia Trolle, Programme manager for the Industrial Product Realisation programme at JTH, says she met many curious visitors during the day. She highlights JTH’s close ties to industry as one of the school’s greatest strengths.
"We are close to the industry and work with real-world case studies, internships, and collaborations with companies. It’s really fun to work on a day like this, because the people who come here are genuinely interested in studying here. It’s fun and inspiring to meet them," says Julia Trolle.
