Young talent met family businesses in a growing competition
How can young people discover family businesses – both as future employers and as key drivers of regional development? This was one of the starting points for the Family Entrepreneurship Schools Tournament (FEST), recently organized at Jönköping University. During the competition, high school students from Jönköping County worked on real‑life challenges provided by a local family-owned company.“We all agreed that it felt great to see our knowledge of entrepreneurship being applied in real life,” said Elias Olofsson, a member of the winning team from Per Brahegymnasiet in Jönköping.

Alumna on Forbes list of young leaders
Frida Wygler, CEO and co-founder of the technology company Radar Reticence and an alumna of the School of Engineering at Jönköping University, has been included in the business magazine Forbes’ European ‘30 Under 30’ list for 2026.“It is incredibly exciting to be recognised on a list alongside other leading entrepreneurs in Europe. Together, we are potentially building the global companies of the future,” says Frida Wygler.

The number of programme applications has increased significantly compared with last year, and Master’s programmes are reaching record levels – both in terms of the total number of applicants and the number of first‑choice applicants.

Jönköping International Business School at Jönköping University is highly ranked when students assess the quality of their education. In a survey conducted by the trade union Akavia, the business school’s programmes in business and economics stand out, ranking among the highest in terms of both lecture quality and overall impression.

Successful teaching initiative becomes permanent
The Professional development for teachers (VAL) programme is aimed at people who work in schools or preschool who do not have a teaching qualification. Since 2011, the programme has been time-limited, but at the end of last year the government decided to make the initiative permanent. The programme is held in Swedish only.“Even though I’ve worked for many years in after-school programme and therefore have a lot of experience, I’ve felt that I lacked knowledge and a deeper understanding of what’s in the policy documents and how I can apply that in my work,” says Johanna Senges, who will complete the programme this summer.

How Öxnehaga can be developed into a safer area
How can the residential area Öxnehaga in Huskvarna become a safer, more pleasant, and a more sustainable neighbourhood? Around 60 students at the School of Engineering at Jönköping University have developed proposals for this. Their work is currently on display in an exhibition at the school.
