Johanna Falck is a Ph.D. student in Health and Care Sciences at the Research School of Health and Welfare and a lecturer at the School of Health and Welfare.
Johanna's research concerns lipoedema, a chronic disease characterized by painful enlargement of subcutaneous fat. Lipoedema almost exclusively affects women during hormonal influence and has a negative impact on health and quality of life. Research on lipoedema is sparse, and the affected women pay low attention to healthcare. The thesis aims to gain a more profound knowledge of lipoedema by studying health, quality of life, and experiences of support, care, and treatment among the affected women. Main supervisor is professor Jan Mårtensson.
