Forskning

Pia Bülows forskning berör kommunikation som del av den institutionella diskursen inom välfärdsinstitutioner såsom socialtjänsten. I fokus står mötet mellan enskilda medborgare och institutionens representanter. Det handlar om studier av människors berättade erfarenheter och om kommunikativa processer i möten mellan professionella och deras klienter. 

Pia Bülows pågående forskning handlar om äldre personer med långvarig psykisk funktionsnedsättning utifrån deras livsberättelser och behov av stöd över tid. Med kollegor från HHJ och JIBS studerar hon personer som migrerat till Sverige och deras bild av integrationsprocessen i relation till den svenska arbetsmarknaden (Sofia Wixe är projektledare). I ett annat projekt studeras insatsen boendestöd för personer med psykisk funktionsnedsättning (projektledare är Monika Allgurin). Alla tre projekten är finansierade av Forte.

Andra projekt som pågår handlar om rehabiliteringsprocesser utifrån individens, de professionellas och vårdenhetschefers perspektiv. I projektet Barns delaktighet i problemformuleringen vid kontakt med socialtjänstens öppenvård (Mikael Skillmark är projektledare) studeras villkor och gränser för serviceinsatser och myndighetsutövning i ärenden som rör barn. Detta, liksom en studie av familjestödjande samtal vid föräldrars psykiska funktionsnedsättning, är finansierade av Stiftelsen Allmänna Barnhuset. Pia Bülow är även involverad i studier om brevberättelser om att vårdas på sanatorium under första hälften av 1900-talet (med Staffan Bengtsson) och i studier om emotioner i institutionella samtal (med Monika Wilińska).

Biografi

Pia Bülow är professor i socialt arbete. Hon är sedan 2020 dekan och ordförande i Nämnden för utbildning och forskarutbildning (NUF). Hon har undervisat i utbytesprogram vid University of Botswana och University of the Free State i Sydafrika där hon är utnämnd till Research fellow vid Department of Social Work. Pia är medlem i det internationella forskarnätverket DANASWAC (Discourse and Narrative Approaches to Social Work and Counselling).
