MMTC Phd candidate Marta Caccamo at the Inaugural Innovation Days Hawaii 2018


MMTC Phd candidate Marta Caccamo have recently participated on the Inaugural Innovation Days Hawaii 2018, which focused in tackling sustainability and resilience challenges.

The event ran in parallel to the Global Tourism Summit from October 1-3. Over 40 participants from Hawai’i Pacific University, University of Hawaii at Manoa, Kapiʻolani Community College and Windward Community College tackled innovation challenges related to the sustainability and resilience of Hawaii’s tourism industry. The challenges focused on how to balance the power of tourism’s popularity with its impact on residents and communities.

Marta is working on the Innovation Days as part of an action research project for her dissertation. The Innovation days in Hawaii 2018 was the 5th of such events that she has taken part of this year after Jönköping, San Francisco, Innsbruck and Berlin. She is studying how to improve documentation of hackathons' projects for follow up through the design of material infrastructures.
