JU journal on new citations list

The Journal of Applied Journalism and Media Studies has been accepted onto Thomson Reuters’ Emerging Sources Citation Index – a new addition to Web of Science.

Web of Science is an online scientific citation indexing service maintained by Thomson Reuters. It gives access to multiple databases that reference cross-disciplinary research. The Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) was launched in 2015 by Thomson Reuters as part of Web of Science, to include “high-quality, peer-reviewed publications of regional importance and in emerging scientific fields”.

The Journal of Applied Journalism and Media Studies (AJMS) is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal based at the School of Education and Communication, Jönköping University. It aims to bridge the gap between media and communication research and actors with a say in media production, i.e. broadcasters, newspapers, radio, Internet-based media outlets, etc. The journal's main purpose is to test and apply media and communication theories to day-to-day affairs of media outlets to help executives, editors and journalists solve the issues they confront.

The journal’s founder and editor, Leon Barkho, described the accreditation as “good news and a milestone on the path of turning AJMS into an impact factor journal in the highly competitive world of media, journalism and communication scholarly publishing.”
