SEK 39 million to new doctoral school at Jönköping University
"Cultural enabling of education through language and literature" (CuEEd-LL) is the name of a new doctoral school that received almost SEK 39 million in grants from The Swedish Research Council until 2026. The project aims to build research capacity among teacher educators, to prepare the next generation of teachers to teach for the diversity of the Swedish school.

Master students help Region Jönköping County with strategies in sustainability
It's time to change the way we think business – the time for business as usual is over. Sustainability challenges call for action, and Region Jönköping County (RJL) actively works on its action plan for sustainable business development in the Region with the vision to be a sustainable region by 2035. As a part of this work, a partnership with Master students from Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) at Jönköping University (JU) was developed.

Student collaboration provides exciting insights into how more people can be attracted to the municipality
A unique project between Jönköping Municipality, the Chamber of Commerce in Jönköping, and students from three schools at Jönköping University (JU) has taken place during the spring. On June 9, the students had a final report of their internship where they have, among other things, created a first version of a digital platform that can be used to attract here and retain labor in the region.

New opportunities for social innovation at EU level
The European Commission has approved Sweden's application to establish a European competence centre for social innovation. Jönköping University and four other Swedish universities form the Forum for Social Innovation Sweden (MSI) and they will, together with actors from Spain, France and Latvia, gather and exchange knowledge within the realm of social innovation.

Nominate Alumni of the Year at JU
For the first time, Jönköping University (JU) is jointly giving out the award “Alumni of the Year” to former students. The award ceremony takes place during the same week as the Academic Ceremony in September 2021 and the prize is awarded to alumni who have made outstanding contributions, either in their professional role or as a private individual. Students and staff, as well as external persons, are welcome to suggest alumni for the nomination at each company within JU.

Spotlight on sustainability for small businesses
Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) at Jönköping University has started up several new initiatives to help businesses transition to sustainable practices. From the start of the academic year in Autumn 2021, JIBS will offer a series of new educations about sustainability targeted towards practitioners of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and owners of family businesses.

Global Swede 2021 from Jönköping University: Ravinath Herath
Ravinath Herath who studies Strategic Entrepreneurship at Jönköping International Business School (JIBS), Jönköping University (JU), has been given the Global Swede Award 2021. The award was recently presented by the Swedish Minister for Foreign Trade and Nordic Affairs in an online ceremony.

Jönköping University appoints recipients of honorary awards
The 2021 recipients of the Badge for Merit, the Per Risberg Scholarship and the Pedagogical Prize at Jönköping University have now been appointed. The Badge for Merit goes to Dag Raudberget and Magnus Andersson, the Per Risberg Scholarship goes to Nerrolyn Ramstrand, and the Pedagogical Prize goes to Adele Berndt.

Combined position increases knowledge exchange and collaboration between Jönköping University and Region Jönköping County
Jönköping University (JU) is currently working on an application to the government to start a new postgraduate educational area. As part of that work, Peter Blomstrand, a doctor in clinical physiology, will combine this role with his new appointment as assistant professor of clinical treatment science at the School of Health and Welfare, JU.
