Leif Melin receives lifetime achievement award
The Family Enterprise Research Conference starts today in Asheville, North Carolina (US), and during the conference Leif Melin, Professor at Jönköping International Business School, will receive the FERC Lifetime Influence and Impact Award for his immense work in family business research.
The award is the highest form of peer recognition in family business studies, and is presented to individuals who have provided distinguished leadership over a number of years toward the growth and development of family business research. Through dedicated efforts, Leif Melin has enabled the entry and the career progression of many scholars into the field
Leif Melin is Professor Emeritus of Strategy and Organisation at Jönköping. International Business School, Jönköping University, and in 2005 founded the successful Center for Family Enterprise and Ownership (CeFEO) that today engage over 30 researchers and PhD students.
The selection committee said they were impressed by the scope of his work for family firms and family firm research over his career, as well as the strong support in 25 nomination letters from scholars from all over the world. The letters emphasized Leif Melin’s impact as a researcher and academic leader on the growth and development of the academic field of family business studies. Particularly, they stressed his successful mentoring and supervising of many young colleagues over the years.
