Students from the Product development with furniture design programme at Bergman exhibit in Paris
On October 19th the Institut Suedois opens a large Ingmar Bergman exhibition as part of the project “Ingmar Bergman 100-years”. Graduates from the Product development with furniture design programme at Jönköping University’s School of Engineering have been invited to show their Ingmar Bergman-inspired furniture pieces in Paris.
Ingmar Bergman 100-years is a big project that has organised several events to celebrate the film-maker’s legacy and show his continuing influence on art and design in the present day, even just over a decade after his passing.
Former design students, who graduated from the School of Engineering’s Product development with furniture design programme this spring, were exhibiting their Bergman-inspired furniture at the Cannes Film Festival in May when they caught the eye of the Institut Suedois who invited them to exhibit their furniture in Paris.
Therefore, current students of the programme have now been in Paris to help build the exhibition space, which will hold seven Bergman-inspired pieces.
On October 18th a vernissage with free admission will take place. The exhibition will then open for the public on October 19th, and will be open until the 6th of January. The Institut Suedois is expecting around 10,000 visitors during this period.
