Jönköping University awarded Strategic Grants for Internationalization

STINT has announced that Jönköping University (JU) has been awarded a Strategic Grant for Internationalisation for a project called “Towards inclusive internationalization: international understanding and intercultural competence of students and faculty”. A second grant is also awarded to Jönköping International Business School at JU together with Stockholm School of Economics, for a “trans-African Internationalization Project: Building knowledge through networks.”

STINT is the Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education. The grants are awarded through a competition process, with other universities in Sweden.

The successful JU application

The aim of the JU project is to develop, implement and assess activities for advancing the international understanding and intercultural competence of students and faculty.

“We think this is timely and necessary, and we are very happy that we have been awarded this funding from STINT,” says Professor Lucia Naldi, Senior Advisor to the President for Internationalization at Jönköping University.

There is increasing attention everywhere towards creating inclusive learning environments that provide international understanding and intercultural competence for all students. This project will contribute to further developing JU’s international profile and its commitment to co-create knowledge with key stakeholders – both locally and globally.

In the new vision, JU is positioned as “leading as a collaborative, internationally-connected and globally-oriented university”. This STINT project is consistent with JU’s priorities and has the strategic and financial backing of the JU leadership. It is a true endeavour to collaborate across the boundaries of the different schools as well as with selected partner universities. The project is aimed to start in Autumn 2020 and will include members from the schools at JU including JUE, the university leadership and the International Office.

Second successful application

Jönköping International Business School, at Jönköping University, is also part of a second successful application which was awarded by STINT together with Stockholm School of Economics. The project is the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) and Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) trans-African Internationalization Project: Building knowledge through networks.
