Successful EQUIS accreditation: JIBS granted five more years

Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) at Jönköping University has received renewed accreditation from the international accrediting body EFMD. The school's EQUIS accreditation is extended for five more years, confirming its position as an internationally leading business school.

On 3 May, it was announced that JIBS is awarded renewed EQUIS accreditation for another five years, the maximum length that EFMD awards business schools.

"This accreditation is both a sign of satisfaction to how we have handled the development objectives identified five years ago and a sign of trust in our abilities to continue our positive development also in the future,” says Jerker Moodysson, Dean and Managing Director at JIBS.

Assurance of high quality

EQUIS accreditation is acknowledged globally as a hallmark of quality in business school education. EFMD evaluates schools based on a range of criteria covering all parts of the organization. To receive the EQUIS accreditation, three themes must permeate all operations: internationalization, cooperation with business and society, and ethics, responsibility, and sustainability. In other words, the school must display global relevance and reach, relevance for and impact on the world of practice, and contribute to a sustainable future for business and society.

The renewed EQUIS accreditation applies to all programmes at JIBS. The reviewers were particularly impressed with JIBS's effective niche strategy, which allows the school to develop a competitive advantage in regional and international markets by drawing on distinct competencies. The team also acknowledged how well the school has integrated its strategy and priorities with the needs of the local business ecosystem.

"Over the last seven years, we have made productive use of our EQUIS accreditation and established the “EQUIS protocol” at the very core of our quality system. All faculty and staff are familiar with the system and contribute to the school’s compliance. Through such a proactive and systematic approach, we can ensure our students and stakeholders that we meet the highest standards and are always up to date with the latest development in our field,” says Jerker Moodysson.

A double-accredited business school

In March 2015, JIBS received its first EQUIS accreditation, which was renewed in 2018. In Sweden, the Stockholm School of Economics, the University of Gothenburg School of Business, Economics and Law, and Lund University School of Economics and Management, together with JIBS, are the only four institutions that hold EQUIS accreditation.

With two international accreditations (EQUIS and AACSB), JIBS belongs to the exclusive 1% of business schools worldwide, holding double accreditations.
