The project Good Examples for School Attendance aims to map the work currently being carried out in the municipalities of Jönköping and Värnamo to increase school attendance and contribute to building a systematic and sustainable approach in this area. The project is based on interprofessional collaboration between school staff, teacher educators, and researchers from education science, health sciences, and the humanities. The goal is to create tools that will increase school attendance and enable success in the form of passing grades and final certificates.

The following questions are central to the project:

  • How are we currently working to increase school attendance for different groups, and how can we move forward?
  • How can we create a meeting place to discuss and share good examples to increase school attendance?
  • How can the results of collaboration in the project be managed to strengthen teacher education in this area?
  • What would a shared theoretical and methodological framework look like that could highlight the mechanisms surrounding problematic school absenteeism while also contributing to creating systematic opportunities to increase school attendance?
